The athletes who find Brendan aren't lazy. They aren't untalented. They show up, they put in the work, and they genuinely want it.
But something keeps getting in the way — and they can't figure out what it is. A recurring injury. A plateau that won't break. A season that should have gone differently. They've tried the programs. They've tried the coaches. Maybe even the physical therapist.
Injury, plateau, or regression — and nothing you've tried has actually solved the root problem. Rest didn't work. Training through it didn't either.
A scholarship, a PR, a starting spot, a roster spot — but something keeps getting in the way and you can't figure out what it is.
You've tried coaches, programs, maybe PT — but nobody is connecting mechanics, injury, and performance together at the same time in a meaningful way for you.
The season, the combine, the showcase is coming. You don't have time for another dead end or another month of wishing for progress that never happens.
This is exactly the situation we are built for.
Not just a speed coach.
Not just a PT.
But both working together at the same time.
The experience of building state champions and professionals from the ground up.
Paired with the ability to help prevent and overcome injuries, obstacles, and other setbacks.
Brendan Thompson wasn't recruited. He walked on at the University of Iowa — one of the most competitive track programs in the Big Ten — with no guarantee of a roster spot, no scholarship, and no certainty he'd make it.
He earned his way to becoming a multiple Big Ten medalist, 2x School Record Holder, and Division I All-American sprinter through the same processes he uses with his athletes: getting to know the individual, their unique traits, and developing an approach that specifically meets the athlete where they're at on their journey to breakthrough their barriers and achieve more.
After his athletic career, Brendan earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Washington University in St. Louis — gaining an even greater appreciation for what most people miss: Standing back and looking at the full picture. Mechanics. Load. Movement quality. Injury history. Lifestyle. All at once.
For 10 years he has built a methodology that combines both disciplines into a single system — a track record nobody else in this space can match, because nobody else has both the clinical credential and the lived experience of competing at an All-American level.
But the credential that matters most isn't on any certificate. He was once exactly where you are — fighting for an opportunity that wasn't guaranteed — and he found a way through. Now he helps athletes just like you do the same thing.
Real Athletes. Real Results.

Jackson Johannes
"Without BT Exceleration there is no way I am a Drake Relays champion and living my dream of running track at the University of Iowa. He took me from a 50.8s runner ranked 61st in the state to a 47.67s runner ranked 2nd in the state in 8 months."
4.52s 40yd dash + D1 Drake RB Commit
Kyle Hogan
"BT Exceleration helped me work smarter so I could make the gains I was training so hard for. The clock was ticking on my recruitment, so I decided to go all in at BT Exceleration. I went from 171 lbs to 196 lbs and both my strength + combine numbers went through the roof! I went from unrecruited to committing to a Division I program!"
400m State Champ + D1 EIU Commit
Parker Wolf
"I wasn't sure what to do and even thought about just quitting track. In two and a half months, I went from suffering a bad hamstring strain to winning my first individual state title and earning a college roster spot."
State Champ 3200m, Runner Up 1600m, + D1 Air Force Commit
Corbin Cole
"I started to fall behind in my training group and had a rough start to the season when I finally decided to reach out to BT Exceleration for help my junior year. I went from a 5:12 mile opener to a 4:20 by the end of the season. While I didn't make state that year, the following year I ended up winning the 3200m and got runner up in the 1600m. My times were good enough that I was offered a roster spot at Air Force!"

Common Questions
No. BT Excel works with athletes across all sports. Track sprinting is simply the most objective way to measure speed improvement — but the methodology applies equally to football, lacrosse, soccer, field hockey, baseball and any sport where speed and athleticism matter.
Yes — in many cases this is exactly when athletes come to BT Excel. As a licensed DPT and speed coach, he can manage the rehab and return-to-play process while simultaneously addressing the mechanical issues that caused the injury in the first place before building you up toward your big performance goals.
Your program is delivered through an app. You submit training videos, log your sessions, and communicate directly with Brendan based on which tier of remote coaching you choose. Most athletes find remote coaching more consistent than in-person because the program travels with them everywhere they go.
That's the other half of BT Excel's caseload. Plateaus almost always have a root cause — mechanical inefficiency, programming errors, recovery shortcomings, or a movement pattern that's limiting your ceiling. Finding and fixing that is exactly what this process is designed to do.
Most athletes notice mechanical improvements within the first few weeks. Measurable performance gains typically appear within 6–12 weeks depending on starting point, training history, and whether injury rehab is involved.
Every athlete in these stories had one thing in common: they found the right answer before it was too late.
